Tests for Light Speed Isotropy: Experimental Method for Constraining the Mansouri-Sexl Parameter a by Using Ring Laser Gyroscopes

چکیده
The Mansouri-Sexl theory is a well known test theory of relativity, alongside with the Standard Model Extension it is the golden standard for testing the predictions of special relativity. Mansouri and Sexl dealt with the theory of the Michelson-Morley, Kennedy-Thorndike and Ives-Stilwell experiments but left out the very interesting Sagnac experiment. In this paper we present a novel experimental measurement of light speed anisotropy via the reenactment of the Sagnac experiment using ring laser gyroscopes (RLG) and we constrain the Mansouri-Sexl parameter ato less than 0.5±0.98⇥10 6. In a recent paper [1] we have shown how to use fiberoptics gyroscopes for constraining the parameter a, in the present paper we show how the ring laser gyroscopes are used for constraining light speed anisotropy in the framework of the Mansouri-

Light Speed Anisotropy Constraints via Measurement of Relativistic Light Aberration
The Mansouri-Sexl theory is a well known test theory of relativity. In the current paper we will derive the Mansouri-Sexl formalism for the light aberration and we will show how to improve on the theoretical and experimental basis by constraining the Mansouri-Sexl parameter “ ”. In the process of constraining the Mansouri parameter we devise a novel experiment for measuring and constraining li...

A test of Lorentz invariance for electromagnetic waves was performed by comparing the resonance frequencies of two stable optical resonators as a function of orientation in space. The crystalline resonators were operated at 3.4 K in a cryostat employing a pulse-tube refrigerator. A new analysis yields the Robertson-Mansouri-Sexl theory parameter combination β − δ − 1/2 = (−0.6 ± 2.1 ± 1.2) · 10...

We report on a test of Lorentz invariance performed by comparing the resonance frequencies of one stationary optical resonator and one continuously rotating on a precision air bearing turntable. Special attention is paid to the control of rotation induced systematic effects. Within the photon sector of the standard model extension, we obtain improved limits on combinations of 8 parameters at a ...

We report on a new test of Lorentz invariance performed by comparing the resonance frequencies of two orthogonal cryogenic optical resonators subject to Earth's rotation over approximately 1 yr. For a possible anisotropy of the speed of light c, we obtain Delta(theta)c/c(0)=(2.6+/-1.7)x10(-15). Within the Robertson-Mansouri-Sexl (RMS) test theory, this implies an isotropy violation parameter be...
